The Faith through the Arts Festival, originally scheduled for the week of May 11 has been rescheduled for the last week of July.  The Festival will include quilts, photographs, and additional mediums by local artists.

On July 25 -  27, the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Texas City, Texas (2400 21st Street North, Texas City, Texas 77590), will be the location for the community’s first annual “Faith Through the Arts” festival.  Additionally, Matthew Todd, owner of Todd Piano Works and pianist at the church, will be performing an evening of Classical Hymns on July 27, 2012 at 7 pm.. 

Todd, a classically trained pianist, has had the privilege of being guest soloist with the Southwest Washington Symphony Orchestra, and the Oregon Sinfonietta, as well as winning many auditions and competitions.  He also was the accompanist for many shows and Broadway musicals such as "The Fantasticks", "Footloose" and "Mame".

Todd shared recently, “If you’re expecting a concert to nap to, then don’t expect this to be the one.”

“I am moved each time that Matthew plays,” noted Rev. Todd Williams, pastor of the First Christian Church, “His playing is filled with emotion, which takes one from being simply a member of the audience, to being part of the musical experience.”

Additionally, the Faith through the Arts Festival, will feature a quilt show and will feature paintings and photos created by many of Texas City’s local artists.  Most of the items will simply be on display, while there are pieces that will be part of a silent auction to help raise funds for future festivals.  These items will be available for viewing from 5 to 9 pm beginning July 25, finishing up July 27 following Todd’s performance. 

A love offering will be collected the evening of Todd’s concert, with all proceeds donated to aid in the research and cure of pancreatic cancer, which claimed the life of Todd’s father, recently.
